An ultralight aircraft taking off from the Decimoputzu airstrip crashed this morning in the countryside of San Sperate, in the Piscinortu woods at the crossroads with Via Riu Abis.

The pilot, a 61-year-old from San Sperate, reportedly suffered fractures and a head injury in the crash, but according to reports, his injuries are not life-threatening: he was transported to Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari by air ambulance.

Witnesses reportedly saw the plane flying erratically: it's possible the pilot was taken ill while operating the control stick and attempted an emergency landing. Engine failure is also being considered.

On site, in addition to the 118 operators, also the firefighters.
