A fault in the electrical line could be the cause of the fire that broke out in the camp of the Roma community in San Nicolò d'Arcidano. No injuries were reported but extensive damage was done to a camper that was located next to the mobile homes.
The alarm was raised around 3 in the morning and, according to initial findings, it seems that the fire started inside the camper: a few seconds later, the flames became increasingly threatening and engulfed the vehicle.
The people inside were awakened by the smoke and managed to escape and save themselves. The emergency services were immediately alerted, and a team of firefighters from the Ales detachment intervened on the spot and put out the flames, preventing the fire from spreading further. From an initial estimate, the damage is extensive. According to the firefighters' investigations, the cause of the fire could be a short circuit.
