Failure to yield right of way is believed to be the cause of the accident that occurred this morning on State Road 126 at the entrance to San Giovanni Suergiu. The collision involved a Fiat Panda driven by an elderly man and a Fiat Doblò van.
The driver of the Panda fared worst and was taken to the Sirai Hospital in Carbonia for assessment by 118 personnel from the Sant'Antioco AVAS emergency medical service. Local police officers from San Givoanni Suergiu, assisted by Carabinieri officers from the Tratalias station, responded to the scene.
Anas personnel were also on site and secured the road. Due to the accident, the highway was significantly slowed until the vehicles were towed away.
