The League proposes to increase the number of Army soldiers guarding Italian roads and stations, and to also bring them to Cagliari, one of the still uncovered provincial capitals .
"People are demanding greater safety, more controls, and a greater state presence," declared the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, "which is why the League is working to strengthen the 'Safe Roads' operation ."
The Northern League's goal is to increase the number of soldiers deployed in sensitive areas of Italian cities from 6,800 to 10,000 , including the 61 provincial capitals that currently lack them. Salvini cites several of these, including the Sardinian capital: "Alessandria, Pavia, Trento, Belluno, Pordenone, La Spezia, Ravenna, Arezzo, Pesaro, Terni, Latina, Pescara, Campobasso, Avellino, Lecce, Matera, Syracuse, and Cagliari ."
To achieve this goal, the Deputy Prime Minister explains, "we would need resources amounting to just over 100 million euros per year, the equivalent of the profits made by a large bank in a few days."
