"Discovering the Surroundings", the event at the Conti Vecchi Saline with guided tours, tastings and workshops
The appointment, organized by the FAI, is for 27 and 28 May on the Macchiareddu siteThe Conti Vecchi Saline , a mix of nature and industrial archeology on the outskirts of Cagliari , open their doors for two days dedicated to the rediscovery of the territory to which they belong .
On 27 and 28 May, "Discovering the districts" arrives , the event organized by the Italian Environment Fund (FAI) which enhances the site of Macchiareddu ( Assemini ). Awaiting visitors is a selection of routes, glimpses and realities to be discovered thanks to a team of expert guides who will explain the history and places of white gold .
To pay homage to the traditions, gastronomy and typical craftsmanship of the place, tastings and cultural insights are also planned, inside and outside the FAI properties selected to host the event. At 4.00 pm there will be an appointment with a nature walk among the ruins of the Macchiareddu Village , wanted in the 1920s by Eng. Luigi Conti Vecchi to host the "salt community", and Porto San Pietro , in the company of Vania Statzu, Vice-President of the MEDSEA Foundation . Also on the calendar are visits to the production site on board a small train and those independently in the historic buildings of the salt pans , restored by the FAI and brought back to their original appearance, as they were in the 1930s.
On Sunday the guided tour will be enriched by the testimony of the elderly ex-salt workers who will talk about their experience and how the salt pans have changed over the years . The piazzale delle Saline will also be populated with numerous activities promoted by local excellence, including the demonstration of the techniques used for the processing of Sardinian jewellery, exhibitions and workshops (those present will be able to try their hand at working the filigree) by the filigree goldsmith Giuliana Chiello . Marcello Muru, artistic director of the Mogoro Fair, will also take care of the installations. It will also be possible to discover the art of Sardinian sewing with the Garau sisters and that of the preparation of panada, excellence of the gastronomic tradition of Assemini.
