Citizens and environmental and peace associations are demonstrating in front of the RWM plant to protest against the production of weapons and the expansion of the plant in Sulcis.

According to the organizers, the company, which has been active since 2010 in the production of explosives on behalf of the German multinational Rheinmetall, signed an agreement with the Israeli company Uvision in 2021 to produce combat drones.

The weapons produced in the factory, they denounce, are destined for war zones such as Palestine, Yemen, Ukraine and Kurdistan.

The organizers also challenge the environmental management and permits required for the new facilities, built between 2018 and 2021.

According to reports, these departments never entered production due to regulatory violations, but are under pressure from the company and the government to obtain a regional amnesty.

"Enough with arms production agreements with companies implicated in conflict and genocide," say the protesters, calling for a halt to the so-called "European rearmament" and the suspension of all positive environmental authorizations for the plant.
