Between lost mushroom hunters, abandoned nets at sea, and turtles in distress, November was a particularly busy month for the Forestry and Environmental Protection Corps (CFVA) in Sardinia. Eight people lost in the woods, rifles and trapping nets were confiscated, as well as operations at sea and on the coast: the Forestry Corps' days were filled with respite.
The most delicate rescue operations involved mushroom hunters: two people were found on Mount Limbara on November 2nd, two more in the Assemini area on the 13th, and two more in Villascema on the 16th.
The latest interventions saw the recovery of a missing person between Pula and Teulada on the 23rd and a rescue in the Sinnai mountains on the 25th. At the same time, since November 18th, the CFVA has been engaged in the search for a missing woman in the Sella del Diavolo.
Hunting-related checks and interventions were also carried out: an illegal rifle was seized in Gairo, while a hunter injured during a wild boar hunt in Calangianus was rushed to the hospital in Olbia. In the Sinnai mountains, 244 trapping nets were removed.
At sea, interventions included the removal of ghost nets in Oristano and the fines issued to unlicensed fishermen. Wildlife was also supported: a loggerhead sea turtle injured by swallowing a hook was rescued and delivered to the Sinis Recovery Center.
Finally, checks were carried out to prevent waste disposal and illegal activities: offenders were reported in Cagliari and Osini, while on November 24, the Forestry Police arrested a man suspected of possession of illegal weapons, receiving stolen goods, and drug trafficking.
