Olbia. A breakthrough has been made in the second investigation into the disappearance of Olbia pensioner Rosa Bechere . Public Prosecutor Alessandro Bosco has requested the dismissal of the cases of Maria Giovanna Meloni and Giorgio Beccu , both under investigation for murder.

This concludes the second investigation into the woman's disappearance , which occurred at the end of November 2022. This is the second request for closure in the space of four years. The case was reopened after it was taken over by the Cagliari Public Prosecutor's Office.

Public Prosecutor Alessandro Bosco conducted a thorough investigation, repeating and expanding all the findings made in the initial investigation. No evidence emerged against Maria Giovanna Meloni and Giorgio Beccu , defended by criminal lawyers Angelo Merlini and Giampaolo Murrighile. According to the prosecution's hypothesis, Rosa Bechere was killed by the administration of strong doses of a sedative . The pensioner's body, assuming she was actually dead, was never found.

The lawyers for the Bechere family and the pensioner's husband, Davide Iannelli, may oppose the new request for dismissal. The civil plaintiffs' lawyers, Cristina and Abele Cherchi, have so far declined to comment.
