Eighty mafia bosses subjected to the 41-bis regime arrived at Uta prison. They reached the island aboard four Guardia di Finanza planes departing from Pomezia airport and landing, in two phases, at the military airport in Decimomannu.

The first group arrived shortly after 8:30 a.m., the second at 2 p.m. And another 20 will arrive in the afternoon, for a total of one hundred.

The transfer was announced by journalist Mauro Pili on his social media profiles. The mafia bosses were transferred to the Uta facility with a massive security presence. Police, Carabinieri, prison police, and the Guardia di Finanza were deployed. A helicopter was in the air. The area around the prison was heavily secured. The adjacent roads, where buses carrying inmates passed, were closed.

The main entrance to the penitentiary was guarded for several hours. Justice Minister Carlo Nordio inaugurated the new 41-bis detention section last July. The process has begun. Concern is now growing on the island.

There is fear of mafia infiltration in the Cagliari area and it is necessary to take into account, as denounced today by the association Socialism Rights Reforms, the emergency linked to the overcrowding of the Uta prison which houses 748 inmates for 561 regulated places .
