The Nuoro Local Police has released data on road accidents that occurred in the first quarter of 2025 within the town. The numbers show an improvement compared to the same period last year : between January and March, 47 accidents were recorded compared to 60 in 2024, with a reduction of 22 percent. Despite the overall decrease, an increase in pedestrians involved was reported, 8 in 2025 compared to 5 in the previous year. Fortunately, no deaths were recorded while the number of injured amounted to 10

The most critical time slots remain the central ones of the day. Between 8 and 12, 19 accidents occurred, while between 12 and 18, 18 were counted. The main causes of the accidents are linked to incorrect driving behavior, in particular speed not appropriate to the traffic and road conditions, which caused 10 accidents, and failure to give way and imprudent turning maneuvers, responsible for 17 episodes.

In the period under review, the Local Police also reported two drivers to the Judicial Authority for drunk driving with a blood alcohol level exceeding 1.5 grams per liter. The estimated social cost of accidents that occurred in the first three months of 2025 amounts to 910,678 euros, a figure that includes material damage, health costs and economic and social repercussions on the people involved. The Local Police Command renews its invitation to all citizens to respect the rules of the Highway Code, underlining the importance of aware and responsible driving, which is essential for one's own safety and that of others
