They sent hashish and cocaine to Italy by hiding the drug in tanks full of wine or inside concrete blocks used as counterweights in cranes.

These are some of the tricks used by the members of the criminal organization specialized in drug trafficking between Spain, Piedmont, Sardinia, Lombardy, Lazio and Abruzzo dismantled today by the carabinieri of the Cagliari investigative unit with the "Eldorado" operation, which led to the arrest of 19 people (15 by order of custody and 4 in flagrantee), and of these 11 in Cagliari and one in Oristano.

The military also carried out various preventive asset seizures, concerning, among other things, numerous current accounts, safety deposit boxes, numerous properties and valuables, all in the quantification phase, as well as 24 house searches delegated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cagliari against the main subjects that emerged in the investigative activity.

The investigative activity stems from a huge seizure of cocaine directed to Sardinia, carried out at the "El Dorado" airport of Bogotà (Colombia) in September 2016 and allowed the investigators to reconstruct how 3 brokers resident in Piedmont brought in on the Island of Spain, thanks to contacts with local drug traffickers, a considerable quantity of drug through some trusted couriers who delivered it to a local criminal group which, through its affiliates, dominated the drug market in the hinterland of Cagliari .

From Spain, according to what was ascertained by the carabinieri, 1,500 / 2,000 kilos of drugs were imported every two months and of these 500 were destined for the Sardinian market.

During the investigation, in February 2017 the carabinieri had intercepted an 800-kilo load of hashish: the drug was hidden in the counterweights of a crane destined for a construction contractor in Cagliari.

THE ROLE OF MINORS - The loads of drugs were hidden in the home of uncensored minors, then recovered and sold. According to what emerged, the suspects in Turin had large amounts of money that they invested in properties, bars and commercial activities not before having "cleaned up" them: in fact, a case of money laundering was ascertained at the casino of Saint Vincent, where the leaders of the 'organization had passed 10 thousand euros collected from drug trafficking.

In addition to today's arrests, the investigation has made it possible over time to arrest 17 people in the act of crime, to discover an armed robbery, which took place in Cagliari on January 31, 2017, for an unpaid drug debt. And again to clarify the recycling episode that took place in Saint Vincent on October 19, 2017, using the "gambling" technique, and to document the phases of the illegal activity, recovering over 1,200 kilos of hashish during the investigative activity, 6.5 kg of marijuana and 5.1 kg of cocaine, 20 grams of heroin and 68 cannabis indica plants.
