Eighteen defendants are facing charges of drug trafficking and possession from Sassari to the Nuoro area. A preliminary hearing was held today in court before preliminary hearing judge Gian Paolo Piana, during which the lawyers explained their preferred procedure. Two of them opted for the ordinary trial, most for summary judgments—all accepted by the judge—while a few opted for plea bargains, which will be finalized at the next hearing. Many of the summary judgments are conditional on the transcription of wiretaps and environmental recordings, which prosecutor Giovanni Porcheddu objected to, and the preliminary hearing judge reserved his decision until the next hearing on June 18th.
The trafficking alleged in the charges occurred between 2023 and 2025, including the sales and purchases of kilograms of cocaine and marijuana, from Sassari to Ozieri, from Olbia to Buddusò, from Alà dei Sardi to La Maddalena and Nuoro. With an alleged network of couriers and runners for the transport of even significant quantities of drugs , the charge thus adds to the aggravating circumstance of large quantities. The transactions involved figures ranging from tens of thousands of euros, up to nearly 80,000 euros, in one case, for the sale of cocaine.
Most of the charges brought by the Public Prosecutor's Office focus on two defendants and the mother of one of them. Of the 18, half are from Sassari, the others are divided between Alghero, La Maddalena, Ozieri, Buddusò, and Onanì.
The lawyers are Sergio Milia, Marco Palmieri, Maria Claudia Pinna, Maria Assunta Argiolas, Patrizia Marcori, Massimiliano Tore, Michele Galia, Federico Delitala, Elias Vacca, Marco Salaris, Nicola Satta, Alessio Bittu, Gianluca Sannio, Giovanna Goddi, Giuseppe Onorato, Salvatore Castronuovo.
