Piazza del Carmine will be more vibrant, colorful, and inclusive thanks to a new play area designed for children and families. This is the aim of a motion presented by the Green and Left Alliance group and signed by all majority groups in the City Council. The initiative aims to create the first play area in the heart of the Stampace neighborhood , with the goal of restoring a social function to one of the city's most important squares . A place that in recent years has often been perceived as problematic due to incidents of riotous nightlife and crime.

The motion requires the Administration to assess the feasibility of a modern, accessible playground compatible with the square's historic and monumental value, also evaluating the inclusion of elements inspired by the city's tradition and possible collaborations with institutions and foundations to support its maintenance. "Piazza del Carmine is a central space for the life of the neighborhood and the city, but a dedicated space for children and families has always been lacking," states City Councilor Corrado Sorrentino . "With this proposal, we want to respond to a concrete need that has emerged from the area , making the square more livable and welcoming, while fully respecting its historical identity."

The proposal also includes an assessment of the project's compatibility with existing activities in the square , including the Sunday market. The motion represents a first step toward restoring the centrality of families and children in the Stampace neighborhood, helping make Piazza del Carmine an increasingly vibrant, inclusive, and community-friendly space.
