A month after the Faradda, a crisis erupted within the Sassari Masons' Guild. Vice President Marco Ciarula and Antonio Sechi, a worker at Candeliere, resigned from the guild, leaving their positions on the board of directors.
The reason for this lies, as they themselves explain in a statement, in the long-standing disagreements with the guild's president , Antonio Pistidda. They had asked him for clarification, including via certified email, "from an administrative, accounting, and above all human perspective," they write, also on behalf of members Fabio Deriu, a flag worker, and Francesco Pettenadu, an elected member.
In recent days, the board of directors was convened, which was also attended by the lawyers of the respective parties: Attilio Pinna for the guild body, Alessandro Fiori for Ciarula and Sechi.
During the two-hour discussion, the latter two were accused of conduct deemed very serious by the Masons' representatives . During this time, both the vice president and the supervisor had the opportunity to respond on the merits, ultimately deciding to resign.
At the end of the meeting, the three-member board of directors unanimously decided to expel Ciarula and suspend Sechi from the guild for one year.
"The decision taken by the three members of the board of directors," the excluded members' press release states, "will be challenged in court because it is considered retaliatory and closely linked to the request for greater transparency in the management of the Guild's organization."
In the meantime, the board of directors has notified the interested parties of the decision and granted them another 20 days, although this will be postponed until September, for further observations, as required by the Gremio's statute.
"Our demands are clear," the rebels announced. "Memorandum, balance sheets, and the valorization of existing human resources and those who have expressed a desire to return, as well as the full reinstatement of members Ciarula and Sechi, who have been the subject of disciplinary action."
Furthermore, they are calling for Pistidda's resignation, but he prefers not to comment, expressing only his regret over what is happening and announcing that both he and the board will have the opportunity to defend themselves. And now, with attempts at conciliation with the Sassari Curia and other intermediaries having failed, the whole thing risks being dragged out into court.
