"The usual Five Star Movement nonsense." Opposition city councilor Giuseppe Farris of CiviCa24 launched an attack on Cagliari's Councilor for Technology Services, Luisa Giua Marassi, who announced the imminent delivery of TARI (waste-waste-recycling-tax) payment notices, with a reduction in the amount to be paid by residents.

"At the same time," Farris emphasizes, "he admits that the overall cost of the waste collection and soil sanitation service, also paid for by Pantalone, is increasing."

A contradiction, given that the entire cost of the service is borne by the residents of Cagliari, who pay for it through the municipal waste tax (TARI). "The funds covering this reduction," the opposition councilor accuses, "do not come from more efficient management, but from regional contributions—a full €9 million," again from the Sardinians, "which had been earmarked for street cleaning and waste collection for non-residents."

In practice, "the money earmarked for cleaner operations is being diverted to make the tax appear lighter. But the Tari remains high, among the most expensive in Italy," says Farris, "despite a very high level of waste separation, while the entire city increasingly resembles a Third World suburb. Who benefits?"
