Newlyweds can promise each other eternal love at the Rocce Rosse. Before the natural treasure of Arbatax, renowned throughout the world and a destination for thousands of tourists every year, it's now possible to say the fateful "I do."
Until 2018, it was just a nice idea, supported that year by the Sardinia Wedding Destination agency, which had submitted a promotional proposal to the Municipality of Tortolì. Now, it's officially one of the new venues selected by Marcello Ladu's government for weddings and civil unions. The available space in Piazzale Scogli Rossi is 500 square meters, a surface area that can accommodate 450 people. The cost? It ranges from €200 if one of the bride and groom is a resident and if the chosen date falls on a weekday and during office hours (10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.), up to €400 for non-residents who choose a public holiday.
What's new
Until now, civil ceremonies outside the town hall could be held in the Ex Blocchiera Falchi and the San Miguel tower.
The Executive has included five other locations, identified in the Coastal Use Plan: in addition to the Scogli Rossi, engaged couples will be able to propose at S'Ortali 'e su monti and in the squares of Cala Moresca, Porto Frailis and the tower of San Gemiliano.
"The idea," says Irene Murru, councilor responsible for wedding celebrations, "stems from the desire to showcase treasure troves of natural beauty and historical charm, sharing them with engaged couples, and to develop the area through wedding tourism. This is a starting point for us."
The expert
Delia Cualbu is the founder and owner of Sardinia Wedding Destination. Eight years ago, she submitted a proposal to the Municipality to include Piazzale degli Scogli Rossi as a wedding destination.
"Celebrating your wedding at the Red Rocks of Arbatax," explains the entrepreneur, originally from Fonni, "means choosing an iconic location, already renowned for major musical events and now poised to become the backdrop for unforgettable 'I dos.'" The natural cathedral of red porphyry, nestled in crystal-clear waters, offers a unique panorama that sets it apart from traditional beach weddings." Many foreigners dream of getting married in Sardinia, vowing eternal love amid historic homes and breathtaking locations. "Promoting this wedding destination," explains Cualbu, "means showcasing a truly exceptional area, capable of transforming a private event into a vacation and discovery experience for guests, guaranteeing extraordinary visuals, especially at sunset."
