Tensions are rising between Nuoro's urban sanitation workers and the in-house company è-Comune . On February 17, the local secretariats of Fp Cgil and Fit Cisl , represented by Pierpaolo Arghittu and Simone Porcheddu, sent a formal warning and an urgent request for a meeting to the company. They also sent the request to Mayor Emiliano Fenu and the Environment and Participatory Companies councilors, Marco Canu and Mariangela Crabolu.

According to the unions, despite mediation attempts last October and the workers' discontent expressed at the January 30 meeting, the company has maintained a "deafening silence." At the heart of the dispute are arrears of night pay, workloads and Sunday shifts, workplace safety, and the regulation of video surveillance and GPS systems.

The unions have given the company a five-day ultimatum to convene a roundtable discussion . Otherwise, FP-CGIL and FIT-CISL will initiate the cooling-off procedures required by Law 146/90, which are preliminary to declaring a strike. They also reserve the right to take legal action to recover unpaid wages from workers. "We warn the municipality against continuing to be inactive toward workers and trade unions," Arghittu and Porcheddu firmly stated.
