With these words the mayor of Mandas welcomed the triumph of the Garau Dairy at the prestigious International Cheese and Dairy Awards 2025 where it won 7 medals . An exceptional result for the historic company from Trexenta. "I could not help but express my best wishes and compliments to Mimmo and Marina Garau for the historic result obtained at the Cheese Awards 2025 held in Great Britain. I am particularly fond of two of these medals: the Grand Duke of Mandas and the Black Duke. Because even from names you can recognize history, the quality of a quality product".

The awarded cheeses are the Granduca di Mandas pecorino and the Duca Nero truffle pecorino with silver medals, the semi-mature pecorino Colline di Mandas, the matured pecorino Giunco, the mixed pecorino and cow Sa Contissa, the goat Su Crabittu, and the pecorino produced with vegetable rennet Cardureu each with the bronze medal . This year, 5,500 cheeses from all over the world competed in the international competition, with the selection attended by experts and judges of the highest level, rewarding the world's dairy elite: 250 judges meticulously evaluated each entry, focusing on a comprehensive set of criteria including flavor and aroma, texture and body, consistency and compliance with stylistic standards.

"We are proud to have been awarded for the second consecutive year, our dairy was founded by our great-grandfather in 1880, currently the oldest in operation in Sardinia and registered among the historic Italian companies", was the comment of the company owners. Mandas cheeses are produced following the ancient recipe handed down for 145 years, no preservatives or chemical preparations are used, not even in the crust . Furthermore, they are refined exclusively in the ancient cellars of the company in use for almost a century and a half, built in local stone and mud, with a microclimate that gives the cheese the classic flavor of the past.
