A fatal accident occurred on October 25th in Tempio, and another on November 30th in Villagrande (three people killed): the bridge barriers failed to withstand the impact of the cars, and now the Tempio and Lanusei prosecutors are investigating road maintenance. Rally driver Vittorio Musselli had a similar experience on the SP 14 highway in Dolianova on the morning of December 13th, during the Rally Città di Cagliari. The race car, a Skoda Fabia, flew off a bridge at least six meters high. The guard rail failed, and the car impacted the barrier at approximately 40 kilometers per hour.

A dangerous situation, and Musselli launches an appeal: "I'm not speaking for myself. In motorsports, there's a certain amount of risk, and we have a cage protecting us. I'd like to make an appeal for the safety of all motorists. The guard rail wasn't secured to the edge of the bridge; there was also a red net like those used at construction sites. It didn't hold, and we fell off the road into the stream." Musselli concludes: "The locals who immediately helped us expressed their concern. They told us that if what happened to me and my navigator, Massimiliano Frau, had happened to them, the consequences would have been different. I believe it's necessary to urgently initiate checks on the road conditions."
