The intense and continuous rains that are characterizing the wave of bad weather in Sardinia are a breath of fresh air for the 15 municipalities of Nuoro that since January 27 risk suffering restrictions in the supply of water that would be supplied on alternate days due to a long period of drought.
A meeting has been called for Monday at 3 pm in the Province of Nuoro with Abbanoa, the Region, Civil Protection, the Government Agency of the Area and Municipalities: we are moving towards the revision of the rationing plan, but there is still no official confirmation.
According to the latest data, the heavy rainfall that has continued for almost 24 hours with brief clearings has completely filled the Govossai basin which is now at maximum levels. This has allowed the Sardinian water manager, Abbanoa, to use all the water in the Jann'e Ferru water purification plant that supplies Nuoro and the other 14 municipalities that until yesterday were suffering from the water crisis. The excess water is not lost, but is discharged towards the Gusana dam, inserted in the Taloro plant that supplies the hydroelectric plant.
In the meantime, the connection between the Olai dam in Orgosolo and the same water purification plant has been closed, to allow the basin to fill further: in the last 24 hours, according to available estimates, over a million cubic meters have been stored. These new reserves could allow the emergency to be overcome and the consequent stop to the planned restrictions.
