Raid on armored vehicles: Major operation by the Anti-Mafia Directorate in the Cagliari and Nuoro areas.
Over 130 State Police officers were in action from dawn, with eleven precautionary prison sentences issued against individuals accused of being part of the criminal organization.Since dawn , a large-scale operation by the State Police has been underway in the provinces of Cagliari and Nuoro , coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Cagliari Public Prosecutor's Office, to execute an order for the application of precautionary measures against several individuals suspected of having formed an organised group aimed at planning the assault on cash-in-transit vans and other particularly important targets.
In detail, eleven precautionary measures were carried out in prison , five of which were carried out in the province of Nuoro (five in Fonni – one is currently untraceable) and one in Arzana.
The operation, coordinated at the operational level by the Central Operations Service, involves approximately 130 men and women of the State Police , belonging to the Sardinian Flying Squads, the "Sardegna" Crime Prevention Unit, the UOPI, the Flight Unit, the Canine Units and the regional and provincial Forensic Police Offices.
The details of the operation will be presented at a press conference to be held at 11 a.m. in the Library Room of the Attorney General's Office at the Cagliari Court of Appeal. The conference will be attended by the Cagliari Public Prosecutor and the Cagliari Police Chief, as well as the heads of the investigative offices that conducted the investigation.
