The Municipality of Nuoro, through its waste management company, è-comune, has raised a worrying alarm regarding the discovery of radioactive material in unsorted waste. The discovery occurred during the most recent collection operations for unsorted dry waste, in both Zones 1 and 2 of the municipal area.

Initial analyses indicate that the waste is attributable to materials contaminated by cancer treatments, such as those used in radiometabolic pathways. This waste requires specific and regulated disposal methods , as it falls into the category of medical waste at risk of radiological damage.

Disposing of waste in the normal urban circuit not only violates current regulations, but also represents a serious danger to public health and the environment .

The Municipality asks users to contact the Local Health Authority (ASL) for the proper disposal of medical waste contaminated by cancer treatments, such as that used in radiometabolic pathways.
