Five events were organized, two were canceled. Cagliari tops the list of cities where Russian propaganda is said to have attempted to gain traction through local events.
This data emerges from the dossier "The Putin Plague," presented at the headquarters of the radical association Adelaide Aglietta in Turin. According to the report, 192 "incidents of violation of the European regulation" against pro-Russian propaganda were recorded in the last year, up until last February.
"Thanks to our intervention, 24 of these were cancelled, with the help of the Ukrainian communities, the Ukrainian Embassy, other associations, and political figures," reads the document, edited by Laura Botti. These are largely "films and documentaries sanctioned by the European Union because they reproduce the narratives of the Russian government," Botti explained. These productions aimed at "distorting reality and the conflict to gain public support" in a country like Italy, considered "the soft underbelly of the European Union."
In this sense, there are "so-called journalists" involved "in this operation, which they want to disguise as" an action "against mainstream thought, against Western media".
Over the months, "in addition to having prepared a map of these events, we continued to send certified emails to municipalities, police headquarters, and prefectures," about a hundred in total, "to inform them of these events and to ask them to issue a ban on the screening of these documentaries. We never asked to prevent the debates."
The cities with the most organised events are Bologna (five, one of which was cancelled), Cagliari and Turin (five, two of which were cancelled), Pradamano (province of Udine) and Genoa (five), Arezzo, Florence and Pisa (four, one of which was cancelled), Schio (Vicenza), Staranzano (Gorizia), Varese, Rome (four).
