Inspections conducted by the La Maddalena Coast Guard at two restaurants in Arzachena resulted in administrative fines totaling €4,000 (€2,000 for each establishment) and the seizure of over 43 kilograms of fish products deemed by the military to be of dubious origin. The Coast Guard reports that the inspections revealed irregularities related to the lack of traceability of the fish products stored in cold storage units. During the inspections, the Coast Guard found a lack of documentation and identification elements capable of reliably tracing the catch to its respective batches of origin, a fundamental regulatory requirement for food safety.

"Proper traceability of the catch," emphasizes the La Maddalena Coast Guard, "is an essential safeguard for ensuring transparency in the commercial supply chain. Only through proper labeling and documentation can regulatory bodies and consumers themselves be certain of the product's origin, preventing risks to hygiene and public health. The Coast Guard will continue to carry out rigorous checks along the entire fishing supply chain—from harvesting at sea to serving—to ensure legality and protect public safety."
