At least 14 anti-aircraft shelters are still intact in Sassari. All built within the city center between 1942 and 1943 on the recommendation of the provincial anti-aircraft protection committee. The municipal councilor Antonio Andrìa presented an interpellation aimed at a plan for the enhancement and usability of the Air-raid Shelters present in Sassari.

One is located for example under the Palazzo della Provincia and occupies an area of 250 square meters with a capacity of 500 people, reaches viale Umberto and has a second access into the Fosso della Noce.

The Sassari councilor underlines: “A plan for the enhancement and recovery of these underground resources rich in history, charm and highly symbolic is desirable in a moment where - unfortunately - war is becoming a terrible reality within the very borders of Europe. It is then a question of having a further factor of attractiveness of the city; together with monuments, churches and buildings of considerable artistic, historical, industrial archeology, cultural background and valuable architectural value ".
