Some say water will be the gold of the future. In Sardinia, the Region has decided that it will remain a common good.

Following the technical and political approval received in early November from the Institutional Committee of the Sardinian Regional Government, President Alessandra Todde has confirmed the course: the integrated water service will remain in public hands, entrusted in-house to Abbanoa.

A political and symbolic choice that the governor openly supports: "Water is a fundamental right," she emphasizes, "and as such, it must guarantee all citizens equal treatment, without disparity. The transformation has already begun. The road is still long, but we are moving in the right direction."

Abbanoa, which has pledged to repay the state aid received in 2013, will also continue its 2026-2028 investment plan, with targeted interventions to modernize water infrastructure and ensure sustainable resource management.

In a statement, the Region highlighted the company's progress: from managing the drought emergency in Nurra and Baronia , thanks to collaboration with local mayors, to internal reorganization aimed at greater efficiency, to strengthening communication with citizens to ensure transparency and constant updates on work and interruptions.

Meanwhile, Abbanoa has also begun a process of reinternalizing its strategic skills : the goal is to independently and comprehensively manage the entire water cycle, from collection to purification, in line with its role as a public company.
