The case of the Brotzu doctor, Steven Claudio Masotti, who was called to deal with vascular surgery and who has expanded his activity to the control of construction sites opened by Arnas and also, with an authoritarian attitude, to other "fields", so much so that he has been nicknamed the "sheriff doctor", has reached the Regional Council, with a question from Corrado Meloni (Fdi).

"We must immediately shed light and clarity on the alleged involvement of medical staff in activities related to hospital construction sites and healthcare investment planning. Transparency comes first," Meloni attacks.

The reports received by the Melonian representative "describe a situation that is at the very least anomalous both within the Arnas Brotzu and in the offices of the Health Department."

The circulating news, also reported by the press, "speaks of the presence of a medical director who is apparently responsible, in various capacities, for matters relating to the hospital construction sites, participating in various inspections, and apparently doing so without the necessary personal protective equipment and in a disrespectful manner toward the staff present. These circumstances, if confirmed, merit further investigation and detailed explanations, including the alleged presence of consultants for other regional councilors at the aforementioned construction sites," Meloni continues.

Regional President Alessandra Todde, who is interim head of the health service, was also asked to address the matter through a question.

Even more worrying, according to Meloni, "is the climate of discontent that appears to be developing among healthcare workers, already subjected to extremely heavy workloads due to chronic staffing shortages. Instead of dedicating all their energy to strengthening patient care, supporting struggling departments , and concretely addressing emergencies, it seems that some professionals are being involved in activities that appear unrelated to the roles for which they were recruited," Meloni continues.

The discontent isn't limited to Brotzu: "Even the Health Department offices are reporting the same doctor's regular presence , apparently without formal responsibilities, in meetings held for various reasons regarding healthcare investment planning. Moreover, the professional apparently arrived from the peninsula six months ago, "enlisted" voluntarily to address the critical issues encountered daily in the departments. We're not making accusations and we don't intend to fuel media controversy," Meloni clarifies, "but we do demand transparency. We want to know what tasks were assigned, what procedures were used, what responsibilities were assigned, and whether these activities are compatible with the proper performance of healthcare functions. These are legitimate questions that deserve clear and documented answers."
