"Segregated, drugged and raped for 50 days in Golfo Aranci": false accusations, acquitted after years of trial

Acquitted: for the Tempio Court, Luigi Morlè, from Golfo Aranci, is not responsible for having segregated and raped for 50 days, on several occasions, after having drugged her with sleeping pills and other substances added to her cappuccino, a forty-one-year-old from Cagliari. These are the charges that had brought him to the dock, in a criminal proceeding that lasted four years, for facts that date back to 2018.
The story began with the statements of the alleged victim, who had presented herself to the Carabinieri of the Cagliari station of San Bartolomeo to report violence and harassment that had allegedly taken place in the Golfo Aranci di Morlè house. She had come there with the promise of a job but, she said, the nightmare had begun. It ended, she claimed, thanks to the intervention of her ex-boyfriend, who had saved her. A version confirmed in court also by the man called into question, who had testified that he had gone to pick her up and found her "like a zombie".
The reconstruction, however, had immediately shown some flaws. Which were also identified by the Public Prosecutor of Tempio Milena Aucone, who should have brought forward the charges against Morlè. Instead, she asked for acquittal at the end of the closing speech, during which she dismantled point by point the investigations that had led to the referral to trial of Morlè. The lawyer of the accused, Egidio Caredda, also conformed to the “defensive” line of the prosecution, with the same request for acquittal. The civil party lawyer insisted on the conviction. But the College of the Tempio Court declared Morlè completely innocent.
