On Friday 21 February at 8:30 in the Giorgio Pisano conference room in Piazza L'Unione Sarda, the round table “ Precision medicine and genetic testing in oncological pathologies: challenges and opportunities” is scheduled. It is an initiative of the Mai Più Sole association against cancer. Patient associations have the opportunity to discuss with institutions and specialists .
In recent years, the treatment of cancer diseases has changed significantly thanks to advances in genomics and biotechnology . Genetic testing plays a crucial role in precision oncology, enabling a deeper understanding of the molecular characteristics of tumors and guiding the development of personalized therapies. This approach can significantly improve clinical outcomes. The event aims to explore innovations in genetic testing applied to oncology and assess how these innovations are improving early diagnosis and personalized therapies. However, the use of new technologies has ethical and legal implications, including the management of genetic data and patient privacy as well as legal issues related to access and equity in genetic testing. The roundtable is an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities offered by genetic testing in precision oncology. The event aims to promote awareness and adoption of evidence-based practices that can improve the care of cancer patients, while contributing to the evolution of health policies and clinical practices.
