The Carabinieri of the Ilbono, Lanusei and Baunei stations, at the end of their investigations, reported at liberty two people residing in the province of Catanzaro, three in the provinces of Teramo, Florence and Rome, and one in the province of Varese, identified as responsible for three different scams committed against a 39-year-old from Ilbono, a 62-year-old from Lanusei and a 52-year-old from Triei.
The investigations into the scam suffered by the 39-year-old arose from the complaint filed by the victim at the Ilbono station . He told the military that he had contacted a user via the Facebook marketplace and agreed to purchase a farm vehicle and some work tools in exchange for a payment of 7,450 euros, divided into three separate transfers.
The 62-year-old, however, contacted by a self-styled employee of Poste Italiane who offered her the possibility of receiving an INPS expense reimbursement, was convinced to carry out 9 transactions in favor of three separate Postepay cards, for a total value of 2,250 euros.
Finally, the 52-year-old from Triei, after having put a motorcycle up for sale through the website “subito.it”, was contacted by a person living in the province of Varese and induced to pay the sum of 500 euros on two Postepay cards, a procedure described by the scammer as necessary to finalize the transaction.
The investigations carried out on the telephone numbers used for the scams and on the bank documentation allowed us to trace, in all the cases that emerged, the current accounts to which the sums of money requested had been paid, which were found to be registered to the reported individuals.
