The internal connections Olbia-Cagliari and Alghero-Cagliari, the one with the Calabrian airport of Lamezia Terme, the route to Istanbul and the new flights to France and Spain .
Only eight new routes out of 67 put out to tender . The Region has completed the evaluation process for the New Routes tender, the tool launched last spring to increase air connections on the island. And the result is not the best: only eight routes were declared eligible by the relevant department of the Transport Department.
They are as follows: Cagliari-Bordeaux (Easyjet), Cagliari – Nice (EasyJet), Alghero – Lyon (Volotea), Olbia – Seville (Volotea), Cagliari – Istanbul (Aeroitalia), Cagliari – Lamezia Terme (Aeroitalia), Olbia – Cagliari (Aeroitalia), Alghero – Cagliari (Aeroitalia) .
These were the 67 routes put up for tender, divided between the three Sardinian airports.

Councilor Barbara Manca , while emphasizing the need to discuss new conditions with the EU Commission so that the measure can become "more effective," is delighted. "The response from three carriers demonstrates that Sardinia is still highly attractive and competitive , and that with the right incentives, it is possible to stimulate air travel supply."
Manca emphasizes the "strategic" importance of the internal routes Olbia-Cagliari and Alghero-Cagliari, the Cagliari-Istanbul route "which opens the island to one of the main international hubs, a gateway to Asia and highly connected intercontinental routes," and the new lines to Spain and France which "strengthen connections with two very important foreign tourist markets for Sardinia."
This is a "first milestone," the member of the Regional Council emphasizes, "the beginning of a broader strategy to make Sardinia connected 12 months a year, with benefits for residents, businesses, and tourism."
For three years, the Region will cover 50% of the airport costs incurred at both the departure and arrival airports on these eight air routes .
The new connections are scheduled to launch in June and July 2026.
