A shameful and racist graffiti appeared in Alghero, on the facade of a building at the corner of Via Porrino and Via Sant'Agostino: "Jew, bastard race." These unworthy words were etched on the wall like a wound to the civic conscience. A vile, cowardly, and unacceptable act that offends the entire community and recalls the darkest pages of history. Local authorities strongly condemn the incident.
"The Alghero City Council, through my presidency, wishes to express its strongest condemnation of the anti-Semitic graffiti that appeared on a street in our city. Alghero is and remains a city of peace, tolerance, and acceptance, where everyone is welcome and where diversity is valued," commented Council President Mimmo Pirisi.
We therefore request the immediate removal of this graffiti, which in no way represents our community. If the building in question is privately owned, the owner is expected to take the necessary measures to remove it. Should this not happen, the competent authorities will automatically remove the graffiti, so that our city can continue to be a safe and respectful place for all citizens and visitors.
