The Court of Appeal of the Sassari Tribunal, presided over by Maria Teresa Lupinu, upheld the one-and-a-half-year prison sentence for the 44-year-old worker from Porto Torres, accused of mistreating his ex-partner, who had left him after years of torment.

The man, defended by lawyer Marco Salaris, was arrested in December 2024 after attempting to enter the woman's apartment in Porto Torres, threatening and insulting her during the night, to the point of shouting: "I'll make you end up like Giulia Cecchetin."

The ex-girlfriend immediately called the Carabinieri, who, upon arriving, found the 44-year-old in possession of a switchblade with an 11-centimeter blade. The appeals judge upheld the first-instance conviction—with mitigating circumstances recognized and a reduced sentence for the fast-track trial—for mistreatment of family members or cohabitants and possession of weapons, a request made by prosecutor Angelo Beccu and supported by the civil plaintiff's lawyer, Sara Dettori.
