Controversy has erupted over the memory of politician and philosopher Antonio Gramsci, following the censorship of M3t4 for the event scheduled at the Ghilarza House Museum. M3t4, a repository that collects video, audio, and images in a single file—a sort of multimedia package—has banned publication of the event.
"Now there's another episode in the north of the island," complains regional councilor Valdo di Nolfo. "In Sennori," he explains, "during a collective urban art initiative, artist Emanuele Konflitto Mossa recounts being forced to alter the face of Antonio Gramsci in the mural he was creating free of charge for the community because the figure of the great Sardinian intellectual would have been considered too 'divisive.'"
Valdo di Nolfo expressed solidarity with the artist. "I find it profoundly serious that, almost a hundred years after his arrest at the hands of the fascist regime, even the face of Antonio Gramsci can be considered divisive," the regional councilor emphasized. "We are talking about one of the greatest intellectuals our island has ever produced, an anti-fascist, a thinker studied and known throughout the world. Historical memory and freedom of artistic expression are values that institutions should protect, not hide ."
And he adds: "To Emanuele, artist, friend, and companion, with whom we have shared the same side of the fence for over thirty years, goes my heartfelt condolences, along with my thanks for putting his art at the service of the community and for choosing to publicly speak out about what happened."
