Two-hour strike by metalworkers in the name of safety, after the incident on Monday afternoon with the structural collapse of a silo. The metalworkers of the Enel power plant in Portovesme stopped for two hours.
"Enel should invest in the safety of the Portovesme plant and contracts should be assigned responsibly," is the message from the workers' assembly gathered in front of Enel's gates this morning. "The fact that this plant is destined for closure does not justify in any way a disengagement from safety," the unions said .
"From what happened we must learn to keep our guard up because it is unthinkable, still in 2024, to go to work without knowing if we will return home," they concluded.
