If Villacidro had a committee of middle school students, what would they ask the mayor? The middle school students at the Loru Dessì Comprehensive Institute tried to imagine it, compiling a long list of wishes to send to the administration and then writing a newspaper article addressing the issue.

Here is the result.

"Dear Mayor, this is the Villacidro we want." This is the gist of the letter a group of middle school students from the center of Medio Campidano decided to send to the mayor. Simulating the existence of a youth committee, the students compiled a list of requests.

The most popular topic was the completion of construction of the Is Begas swimming pool. Even though they were very young, many wrote: "We've been waiting for it for years." And still on the topic of sports, attention was focused on improving the sports fields: the one on Via Farina was listed as a priority. Not to mention the tennis court in Marchionni Park: it would need to be completely redone. "Dear Mayor," the young people emphasized, "there isn't even a net."

Transportation, then. The municipality is building a bike path. It would be great, according to the students, if it were completed as quickly as possible. Also, among their other wishes is the creation of a bike parking space in the schoolyard.

And here's a sore point: the Municipality, the appeal goes, must quickly finish the work on the school on Via Deledda, which has been dragging on for far too long.

While the request for greater cleanliness is common, other recommendations are also being made to the administration: more lighting in the historic center, the green light for a McDonald's, licenses for shops with more attractive merchandise, and a hospital.

The kids know that not everything can be done by the municipality. So much so that they're even proposing a giant Hollywood-style sign with the name Villacidro in Monti Mannu. Dreaming doesn't cost anything.
