It is not known where the waste came from, up to the coast of Torre delle Stelle, between Genn'e Mari and Cannesisa, municipal territories of Sinnai and Maracalagonis. Almost certainly the bags were dumped into the sea where and who knows when, from some fishing boat or in any case from one of the many vessels that travel these waters. The fact is that those bags, now smelling of jute and plastic, white and black, ended up about forty meters from the shoreline where there were several children, aged six to nine: Giacomo, Giuditta, Maria, Ester, Pietro, Carlotta and Giacomo. The children entered the water from the beach of Genn'e Mari, starting to play with mattresses and a board.

Suddenly in the crystalline sea of Torre delle stelle, they found themselves faced with a trail of bags that came from multiple bags of waste, with the contents that were freeing, ending up in the water. The children immediately started cleaning up the stretch of sea, helped later by their families and other swimmers. It happened at the end of July, now it was the children themselves who prepared the diary of this misadventure in the water, telling when it happened. It took an afternoon to clean up the sea, also with the help of their families and swimmers.

It all seemed to end like this. Instead, a few days later, the child-environmentalists began writing the diary of that afternoon in the sea of Torre delle Stelle, thus making their experience known. Notes with an initial title. <Pollution, help us take care of the marine environment”.

“It was July 30. We immediately started picking up that rubbish that suddenly almost fell on us”: plates, forks, plastic, pieces of netting and many other things - the children tell in their notes. We didn’t manage to pick up everything. Some things were really disgusting”.

"How is it possible to do something like this? This is how the sea and the fish suffer. We don't want to swim in this filth anymore. Help us take care of the environment." No trace of the mysterious boat or its guests has ever been found.
