"Autism Goes to the Goal" was a success. Yesterday, at the Maria Pia rugby field in Alghero, hundreds of people took part in the event organized by the "Il mio amico speciale" association and Amatori Alghero Rugby with the support of the Sardinia Region, the Municipality, and the Alghero Foundation.

The event was created with the goal of transforming rugby into a message of inclusion, awareness, and fair play, so that every child and young person feels part of the community. "Autism Goes to the Goal" was born in 2019 from an idea by Ogert Paco, rugby player and founder of the "Il mio amico speciale" association, to promote inclusion and autism awareness through sport. After a hiatus due to the pandemic, the event was reintroduced seamlessly from 2024. The event also included schools, the armed forces (Sassari Brigade and 3rd Bersaglieri Regiment), police forces, firefighters, the Alghero "A. Dalerci" Music Band, numerous non-profit organizations, and doctors and autism experts. But not only that, on the Maria Pia field there were, in addition to the Amatori Rugby Alghero 1985, also the Tigri Baseball, the Pallacanestro Alghero, the Mercede Basket, the Basket Coral, the Alghero Calcio, the Club Ippico Capuano, the Ac Sassari, the Alghero Bike and the Olmedo Taekwondo.

The day was also enriched by the rugby match between the Classic Lions and the Italian Classic XV, who took to the field to support the message “Autism Goes to the Goal”.
