Older dogs often wait a long time for their "happily ever after" until their faces begin to turn white. Not because they're problematic or have had challenging behaviors, but simply because advanced age can discourage families looking for a new pet. For this reason, Lndc Animal Protection is relaunching the "Add a Grandparent to the Table" campaign, created in collaboration with Nutrix Più, an Italian company specializing in natural dog and cat food.
In Sardinia, the Lndc headquarters is located at the "Dog City Franco Cacciari" shelter in Carbonia. The initiative, valid until February 15th, aims to promote the informed adoption of senior dogs (at least 8 years old for dogs, and at least 10 years old for cats), offering them a second chance at living with a family and receiving love.
Every day, volunteers at the national association care for thousands of elderly animals. Many have never known the stability of a family; others arrive after a bereavement, forced renunciation, or, worse still, abandonment. Some are left in shelters or on the streets because it becomes "too demanding" to cope with the care and attention that age may require. But the truth is that every grandparent deserves to spend their final years in the right place: in a home, surrounded by the love of a family or someone who chooses to live with them, with respect and kindness, until the end.
