A journey from prehistory to the present day to explore the concept of disability throughout the centuries: "Abile storia," a stand-up history by Trip Sardinia, taking place in Cagliari, in the Schenk room of the Sali Scelti building in Molentargius, explores history to demonstrate the relationship between disability, history, and science.
The event, on Wednesday, September 30th at 6:00 PM, opens the new series "The Darkness and the Light. Stand-up History Against Disaffection," which the Cagliari Society has conceived and organized to narrate, through five accessible and experimental meetings, the sentiments that have animated the city of Cagliari throughout its history.

The journey, written and narrated by Claudia Caredda and accompanied by music selected by Giacomo Pisano and readings by Federica Orrù, travels through time, from the first testimonies of disability in prehistoric cave paintings to the contemporary age, passing through protagonists of history, literature, and recent science such as Louis Braille, Garibaldi, Stephen Hawking, and everything that has arisen over the centuries from contact with and reflection on disability: superstitions, medicine, innovation, real figures, myths, and legends.

"Abile Storia" is a journey that highlights human creativity in the face of physical, intellectual, and cultural limitations. The event will be accessible to the deaf thanks to respeaking, and will also include a trial of the Listen Wi-Fi system for cochlear implant recipients. The room is accessible to people with physical disabilities, and the narration is also accessible to the blind.
"Abile storia" is part of Trip Sardinia's Monumenti a Ruota Libera (Free Wheeling Monuments) initiative, promoting accessible tourism and culture (www.monumentiaruotalibera.it). Admission is free with a donation; reservations are recommended.
