Love of nature and socialization. These are the concepts behind the new initiative by the youth of the Diversamente Odv association. Led by Yari Pilia, educator and coordinator of the association's various activities, they visited a nursery to purchase plants to plant in the Mariposa de Cardu garden in Quartucciu. The initiative stems from their experience with "Horti Asd – Horticulture and Autism," a European Erasmus+ project designed to promote horticulture and social and therapeutic gardening as tools to foster independence, learning, participation, and inclusion for people with autism. "After this summer's fire in the Mariposa garden, we want to transform a terrible event into an opportunity for rebirth for the environment and the community, involving the youth in caring for new plants over time," says Pierangelo Cappai, president of Diversamente Odv. Each of them will plant a tree, naming it after themselves, and will care for it over time. Mariposa de Cardu will thus become an open-air workshop for learning about environmental education and a sense of responsibility. Fruit trees and olive trees will be planted. The planting will take place on the morning of Monday, October 26th. "This is also a gesture of gratitude for the welcome that Rita Atzeri (president of the Il Crogiuolo theater company and founder of the garden, ed.) gives us when we visit the garden," Cappai concludes. Atzeri adds: "The energy and dedication of the children enrich Mariposa de Cardu."
