Two men, aged 31 and 50, were arrested yesterday evening by the Quartu Carabinieri on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.

They are a 31-year-old worker, already known to the police, and a 50-year-old unemployed man, both residents of the city hinterland.

The operation was launched during a targeted territorial patrol, designed to combat drug dealing in the city's central areas. The officers, supported by plainclothes personnel, noticed the two men lurking suspiciously in a dimly lit area within a condominium garden.

Upon seeing the plainclothes Carabinieri and the patrol car with its flashing lights , the two attempted to quickly drive away, further attracting the officers' attention. They were stopped and identified and subjected to a personal search.

During the checks, 11 doses of marijuana weighing more than 15 grams, five small bags containing marijuana inflorescences (approximately 4 grams), one dose of hashish, and nine doses of cocaine weighing approximately 4 grams were found and seized . €1,000 in cash was also seized, believed to be the possible proceeds of drug dealing.

At the end of the ritual formalities, the two men were placed under house arrest pending the validation hearing with a fast-track procedure .
