Blue flag, fight against landfills, roads and sidewalks, public works and new Tari rewards. All the news for Quartu in the social updates of Mayor Graziano Milia.
«It was a week full of events in terms of Quartese administrative life – recalls the mayor -. First of all, the good news of the reconfirmation of the Blue Flag at Mari Pintau and at the Port of Capitana. The two localities of our coast have obtained the prestigious recognition of the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), which every year draws up the list of beaches and tourist landings worthy of being counted among the best in Italy for environmental quality and level of connected services . The Poetto is missing, but it is only a postponed appointment : in agreement with the FEE we have in fact decided for this year not to nominate that site, which is still being rebuilt . At the end of the works, which we plan to complete within the year, we will have a new seafront capable of perfectly integrating the naturalistic aspects, the needs of environmental protection with the functions connected to the use of the beach and outdoor activities".
Again: « In collaboration with the waste company, the maxi operation of reclamation of the illegal outdoor dumps in the Quartese area has started : via Galvani, the Pitz'e Serra hill, the Is Arenas municipal road; a portion of the Simbirizzi, near the Buon Cammino, via Don Giordi; the long road of San Forzorio and via Degli Anthurium, via Pusceddu, via Majorana, via Padre Picci, via Padre Attanasio, via Mar delle Antille, Niu Crobu area, Riu Su Pau area, via Scoa Moentis – Su Pau, Sa Cora area , via Cubeddu, Rio Cuba area and Strada Comunale Molentargius. A dutiful intervention to contrast degradation and uncivilized people, but it is good to know that in addition to environmental damage, those who litter by abandoning waste and bulky create damage to the entire community. In fact, these are very expensive and unplanned operations which necessarily translate into an increase for the municipal coffers and a subtraction of resources intended for other services intended for people. For this reason we are thinking of further increasing the level of surveillance in the area, arriving at exemplary measures which also include the seizure of vehicles used to spill materials outdoors. However, we must also know that the Municipality alone cannot do it, and that the collaboration of citizens is needed to report irregular behavior and encourage the rate of collective civilization".
From the Municipality: « The Giunta fired on Friday the resolution proposing the allocation of the 2022 budget surplus for the current year . Once again this year, the Administration was able to approve the Final Account on time, which made it possible to identify a "treasure" of unconstrained resources equal to 11 million euros. Of these, one and a half million set aside for possible emergencies, the rest will be used entirely to improve our city and the lives of citizens. The proposal that will be forwarded to the City Council in the next few days provides for some significant measures, including: the road link between via Czechoslovakia, via Italia and via Luxembourg, a fundamental work to mend the fragmented built-up area and reconnect an entire district to the rest of the city, with a tree-lined urban avenue that will be equipped with cycle-pedestrian lanes and sidewalks, functional and beautiful to look at".
«Then there are - he continues - 2 million and 200 thousand euros on the third lot for the Roads and Sidewalks, of which a substantial part, of 850 thousand euros, will be entirely destined to the coast and the suburbs. We also go ahead with the Public Works, to continue with the maintenance of the schools (100 thousand euros for via Tiziano and via Beethoven, another 750 thousand euros for the continuation of the Iscola program for the institutes in via Turati, Vico and Cimabue, all under of co-financing), with the completion of the Auditorium in via Monsignor Angioni, with the completion of the interior of the Palazzetto dello Sport and the continuation of the restoration works of the sports-environmental center of Sa Cora Is Arenas. Again: 300,000 euros will go to work on the Carabinieri barracks in via Miliano, while 90,000 euros will go to the library in via Dante, for ordinary maintenance. 2023 will also see the Sala Michelangelo Pira flourish again: 300 thousand euros have been allocated to put it back into use».
Finally, among the many interventions envisaged, «I would like to underline the allocation of 500 thousand euros to encourage the virtuous behavior of citizens in their relationship with the Municipal Administration, up-to-date with the payment of the Tari. We are developing the discount mechanisms together with our offices and I will shortly be able to give you precise information on this measure".
