Last night, police arrested a 51-year-old man in Quartu, a resident of the city and already known to law enforcement, on charges of aggravated theft.

The operation was triggered when a patrol from the Quartu Police Station, on territorial control duty, was alerted to the presence of an individual inside a butcher's shop on Via Fadda, at the corner of Viale Marconi. According to the reconstruction, the man had entered the shop while an accomplice was waiting for him in a car nearby.

The officers managed to catch him rummaging through the counters. Upon seeing the police, the alleged accomplice fled, disappearing without a trace .

The 51-year-old, however, had already managed to get hold of the money in the cash register and had prepared fifteen pieces of salami near the door, ready to be taken away.

He was taken to the police station, arrested, and handed over to the judicial authorities. The preliminary investigations judge will decide on the validation of the arrest in the next few hours.
