There's no mystery surrounding the fire that damaged the basement of a home on the Quartu coast yesterday, leaving the owner with multiple burns . The flames reportedly started while the man, Sergio Livio Molinas, 61, was handling gasoline in the engine of a dinghy.

A spark, then a flame that caused the man's injuries, and then the fire that engulfed the interior of the basement, with smoke spreading to the upper floor of the house . The man was immediately rescued and taken to Brotzu Hospital, where he received treatment. His condition is not cause for concern.

The firefighters intervened on site and put out the flames, an ambulance from 118 took the injured man to the hospital and the Carabinieri of the Quartu Company, with lieutenant Vittorio Piras, who immediately started the investigations, reconstructing the incident with the same firefighters who also secured the site.
