Construction waste was dumped and then burned in Flumini, in the Scoa Moentis area, where an illegal landfill was discovered and those responsible were identified.

Video surveillance footage was crucial: the local police, based on reports from the fire department of two fires starting on August 15th, reconstructed—thanks to the camera footage—the movements of the vehicle used to transport and abandon the material.

On-site debris, plastics, paints, insulation, and electrical components, including hazardous waste, were set on fire, posing a risk to health and the environment.

The areas used for waste disposal were seized by the Local Police. This measure was subsequently validated by the Cagliari Public Prosecutor's Office. The vehicle used to transport and dump the materials, a truck, was also seized. Following the investigation, remediation will begin with specialized companies to characterize the waste and decontaminate the soil.
