Months of construction work has begun in Quartu on fiber optic, electricity, and sewer systems. These projects are driven by the expiration of National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) funds, which the municipality, they say, cannot postpone to avoid losing millions of dollars in funding.

The municipal administration itself announced: Enel will upgrade its transformer cabins to ensure greater power and stability for the grid, fiber optics will be extended to uncovered areas, and Abbanoa will complete the coastal sewerage network.

A wave of construction work has already inundated the Municipality with requests for road cuts. "These are projects of public interest, we cannot avoid them," explains the Department of Technological Services, "but we will manage them rigorously and transparently to limit disruption and protect citizens."

The Technology Sector has already called the companies together. The goal: to schedule repairs and remediate existing excavations. Currently, the roads are patchy, partly because asphalt cannot be paved in the summer: the heat compromises the laying of asphalt.

For this reason, the department announced, a strict requirement has been imposed: "Where the road surface was redone less than three years ago, the repair will not only be to the cut section, but to the entire roadway. No more patching."

Increased oversight by municipal offices and the clients themselves on contractors, with penalties for non-compliance. Also involved is Innovaquartu, Abaco and Municipia's in-house company, which will verify permits for occupation of public land and penalize illegal contractors.

"Some disruption will be inevitable, but these are essential modernization measures," the Technology Services added. "Ultra-fast fiber, a stable electricity grid, and efficient sewer systems are the foundation for Quartu's growth."
