A fatal accident occurred last night in Quartu Sant'Elena on Via Marco Polo. For reasons still under investigation, a car left the road and the driver— a man in his fifties — lost his life.

It happened around 1am.

Sanluri Highway Police officers and an emergency vehicle responded to the scene. The car was stuck against the guardrail, and when emergency responders arrived , firefighters also had to intervene to extract the driver's lifeless body.

According to the few rumours that have filtered out so far, there are no other vehicles involved, but the car apparently left the road for its own reasons on the stretch of the provincial road that connects Quartu with Maracalagonis .
