They break into a tobacconist's shop in via Marconi, in Quartu, at night, and discovered by the police, they try to flee . A long and dangerous chase that ended with the fall of the two alleged scooter thieves, two men aged 50 and 45, arrested on the night between Friday and Saturday by the officers of the Flying Squad of the local Police Station.

The police officers, alerted by the activation of the bar-tobacconist's anti-intrusion alarm, headed towards the business and nearby noticed a scooter with two people on board travelling at high speed .

They started tracking the vehicle and when the man driving the scooter noticed them, he accelerated even further.

A long and very dangerous chase ensued, the criminals even drove the wrong way on some streets and the driver, when he saw a patrol of the Carabinieri in front of him, lost control of the vehicle and ended up on the ground . The two separated and continued to escape on foot, but were caught and stopped shortly after.

During the escape, the scooter's passenger, who was clutching a plastic bag, lost several packs of cigarettes that had fallen due to the driver's sudden maneuvers.

The two were arrested and yesterday, in the validation hearing, the investigating judge validated the arrest and ordered them to remain in their home .

The theft was reconstructed from the images of the video surveillance system: the two criminals broke the glass with a pickaxe and made off with packs of tobacco, cigarettes and rolling papers . All the stolen goods were recovered and delivered to the rightful owners.
