«To state that the underground ammunition depot at Punta Giglio is closed to visitors because it has been transformed into a wine cellar is news without any foundation which only continues to cause serious damage to its image, not only to the Park, but to the city of Alghero and to the entire Alghero community."

The Porto Conte Park responds to the accusations of the 5 Star Movement which, through the group leader in the city council, Maria Antonietta Alivesi, had attacked the management for the management of the former military battery of Punta Giglio, asking for clarifications and also involving the Superintendence.

In particular, councilor Alivesi wondered whether the transformation into a cellar conflicted with public enjoyment in a historical and cultural context. But the Park management makes it known that that site, an ammunition depot, is open to the public and can be visited, but in the presence of a guide that the Il Quinto Elemento cooperative makes available free of charge.

Furthermore, the Park is continuing to work to implement the museumisation of the spaces «with the planned creation of display cases and other supports which will also be set up in the underground ammunition depot, in the reserves adjacent to the gun positions, in the shooting center and in three other small buildings ; in part there will also be a partial museumisation of the barracks. Objects, finds, documents, photos etc. have already been found. which will enrich these spaces. However, for their concrete implementation and for these new installations, economic resources are needed which the Park does not yet have at the moment."
